WW2 German LKpN101 Netzkopfhaube Pilot Helmet Ln. 26670 FOR PARTS/RESTORATION
26670, as used by many German pilots throughout WW2! During WW1, most pilots quickly realized the need for protective headgear due to the cold weather effects while in an open cockpit. As no headgear was readily available, pilots were forced to utilize commercially produced leather motorcycle and automobile helmets. During WW2, the German military produced approx. 10 variations of flight helmets for various operational conditions, as well as with or without radio communication equipment. This specific helmet was designed with radio equipment for fighter and bomber pilots. It was similar to the earlier model used in the early months of the Battle of Britain (LWpW100), however with updated features. Made of leather, cotton, and fleece, this helmet is in GOOD used condition! All the buckles and tabs work perfectly, and all retain most of their original paint. The electrics are intact, and all straps are fully adjustable. The data label remains and clearly indicates, LKpN101, Ln. This is a size 59. The mesh appears to be fully intact, and the leather remains soft and supple, in a nice, rich, light brown. Or whatever reason, someone has decided to remove the fleece lining… And one of the bakelite covers for the throat mics is missing. Apart from that, as well as some loose stitching, it is fairly complete and undamaged. Nice that the earphone and. Cellophane covers are still intact! Would look FANTASTIC on a mannequin. Or simply used for parts/restoration! A FANTASTIC addition to any collection or display! TERMS OF SALE.
