Original German WW2 steel helmet model M40, maker marked ET64. This authentic battlefield relic was recovered in the Kurland Pocket (Courland), Latvia – one of the final defensive positions of the German army on the Eastern Front. This helmet was directly hit by shrapnel, which pierced through the front and exited through the rear, leaving dramatic structural damage. The force of the blast has also caused multiple cracks across the shell, making this a visually striking and historically powerful piece. Some traces of the original field paint remain visible, especially on the dome and side areas. Inside the shell you’ll find the marking ET64 (size 64), and a partially visible lot number ending in 42. This helmet has not been restored – it has only been carefully cleaned and preserved using natural candle wax to stabilize and protect the metal while retaining its authentic relic appearance.
