Original fairly nice example of a WWII German Luftwaffe leather skull cap / LkpW101 flight hat. OK condition with some flaws. The headphones are not inside and the little leather tab at the neck which would have held the throat microphone has been removed. You can still see the stitch holes where it was. I can not make out the size, but it is smaller – probably a European size 56-57ish (about a US hat size 7 or so). It is a very wearable example, the leather is still quite nice. See photos for condition. While I would never list an item I find to have an offensive odor, I cannot ensure buyers (especially those very sensitive to odors) will feel the same as smell is subjective. I know there should be a simpler way of doing this, but I haven’t figured it out, so this is my best option at the moment.

WWII GERMAN ORIGINAL JAGERMEISTER’S GREATCOAT. German WWII Winter Luftwaffe Flight helmet. This is the Winter model. Dark Brown leather, with twin lower straps. The leather is very soft and the helmet show little use, it’s very nice. The liner is sheepskin and inside is the BeVo tag with the helmets model and information. Both straps are still very soft and in very good shape. A nice LW flight helmet. From Relics of the Reich. Your satisfaction is important to me. Many times its a mis-understanding that can be cleared up.

Made exclusively by Seimens, the SSK 90 helmet was a short-lived World War II Luftwaffe helmet. It was introduced on 8 May 1941, but withdrawn from service only 18 days later. Designed to be worn on top of the standard flight helmet, the helmet’s core of interlocking hinged steel plates intended to protect against shrapnel and small-calibre machine gun fire. It was covered by padding and dark brown leather. A large section of padding at the front both provided extra padding in the event of a collision, and served as a “grab-roll” to quickly put on or remove the helmet. On either side was a cut-out for earphones, and a chinstrap used the same components – including buckles, leather, and snaps – found on German paratrooper helmets. The Luftwaffe adopted these helmets for use on May 8, 1941. Due to their weight (just over 4 pounds), these helmets were withdrawn from service on May 26, 1941, remaining in. Service for less than a month. These helmets are more rare than any of the standard issue flight helmets due to their limited issuance and use in combat. Made of steel & leather, this helmet is in EXCELLENT used condition! Some slight wear and marks, but nothing that detracts. The data label remains and clearly indicates, “SSK90″, and will fit size 60-62. No major damage, and the leather remains soft and supple, in a nice, rich, dark brown. Worn in combat, it is missing the chin straps. As mentioned above, the straps were identical to those used on the Fallschirmjaeger Helmet (the only difference being affixed by snaps), so it should be easy to replace, if one wished. I have shown one in use in the last photos. A FANTASTIC addition to any collection or display!

26618, as used by many German pilots and flight crew! During WW1, most pilots quickly realized the need for protective headgear due to the cold weather effects while in an open cockpit. As no headgear was readily available, pilots were forced to utilize commercially produced leather motorcycle and automobile helmets. During WW2, the German military produced approx. 10 variations of flight helmets for various operational conditions, as well as with or without radio communication equipment. This specific helmet was designed with radio equipment for fighter and bomber pilots. It was similar to the earlier model used in the early months of the Battle of Britain (LWpW100), however with updated features. Made of leather and fleece, this helmet is in SUPERB used condition. There are no rips or tears, and the leather is still very soft and supple! All snaps, tabs, and buckles work correctly, and retain their original paint. All the electrics are 100% intact (headphones, throat mic), as well as the main radio plug and wiring. All straps are fully adjustable. Data label is complete, however the size is difficult to read (appears to be around a 55). The cellophane covers for the earphones are also still present! A SUPERB example, perfect for any collection or display.
