The Liner rim appears to be signed and dated, but not strongly, and in a tight spot (the other side is pictured) – We wanted to preserve the originality by NOT removing the liner to get the picture of the stamp. Liner size stamp (57) is pictured! Exterior of Shell is FINE as Photographed. Nice ORIGINAL Flat Low-Glare Field Grau. Little in the way oxidation around any edges. WWII German M42 Combat Helmet. Helmet shell is painted in what appears to be Luftwaffe Blue/Grey. Shell shows obvious signs of field use with expected scratches & scuffs from wear. Liner has detached due to poor storage but remains attached to the ring by one small leather strip. Nice German helmet for your WWII collection or a great candidate for restoration. This isn’t the prettiest lid but its without a doubt an unmolested combat helmet and an example that any collection should have at least one of. I can’t see it and I don’t want to keep prying around trying to see it either, I have zero doubt that this liner is period installed. A great pot for your display. This all original M1942 German WWII helmet is in very good overall condition, and even includes the original leather chin strap and liner! There is some obvious light surface patina and what looks to be the remnants of some original paint/decals. PLEASE see our high-resolution photos and use them as your guide to exact detail and condition. These don’t show up in complete, unrestored, uncleaned condition very often. This is as close as you’ll find to battlefield fresh 75 years ago. Priced for quick sale.
