WW2 M42 Original german helmet field grey

For sale is this beautiful original M42 field gray helmet, produced by Vereinigte Deutsche nickelwerke / Schwerte (NS) in size 66. It is still visible enough to be able to describe the size and model. It is delivered original without decals. In addition to the original gray color applied during production, the helmet has a layer of gray field paint applied by the soldier himself towards the end of the war. The thickness of this layer varies and you can see clear streaks after the brush from application in several places. This layer covers both the outside and inside of the helmet (see photos). Around the helmet you can also see some very small scattered traces that there has been a dark green color applied at one time. The condition of the liner and leather is excellent. It has not been lubricated or oiled, but appears to be completely original. The string in the leather is original, which is quite rare. Linerband is produced and stamped b & c litzmannstadt 1943, rivets are stamped 43. The chin strap that is attached is not original to the rest of the helmet but the rest of the helmet is authentic from the war. As far as it is possible to trace, it has not had a known chin strap. It has only been in two collections since a long time before this, when previous owners bought this from a very old man in the 90s who had experienced the war. No parts on the helmet have been replaced. There are hole punches on both sides inside the leather. Slightly uncertain about what they describe in concrete terms, but similar types of stamping have been used in several ways in late productions (including dog tags), which are due to lack of resources towards the end of the war. This is a great helmet that deserves a place in a collection for someone who understands the value in it.
