LUFTWAFFE PILOTS LKpS101 SUMMER FLYING HELMET. This Luftwaffe LKpS101 Summer Flying Helmet is the finest example we’ve seen, its totally Mint and has never been on a head! Helmet is complete with all Avionics and is an excellent example of a Luftwaffe flying helmet with all these key features. Light brown cloth summer exterior; earphones with their dark brown smooth leather covers, securing straps, buckles and fittings, hooks and the elasticized pullout straps beneath the earphone covers. At the bottom rear is the upside down, brown leather “Y” tab, the arms of which extend into neck straps bearing the dark reddish-brown bakelite covered larynx (Mi 4c) microphones marked Ln. The avionics cord, with its four-prong end plug, exits the helmet above the microphone straps. The cord and plug are mint, with the black bakelite plug being marked “BLKvFl27560″. The oval earphones are fleece padded and mint showing NO use! The translucent plastic earphone covers (beneath the fleece) are present and without issue. A woven nomenclature tag at the rear of the helmet nicely marked with the Baumuster (Model type) LkpS101, etc. This mint example is impossible to upgrade, so if you want one, this is it Guaranteed forever! 26617, as used by many German pilots! During WW1, most pilots quickly realized the need for protective headgear due to the cold weather effects while in an open cockpit. As no headgear was readily available, pilots were forced to utilize commercially produced leather motorcycle and automobile helmets. During WW2, the German military produced approx. 10 variations of flight helmets for various operational conditions, as well as with or without radio communication equipment. This specific helmet was designed with radio equipment for fighter and bomber pilots. Made of cotton and fleece, this helmet is GOOD used condition. There are no rips or tears in the fabric, however, as you can see in the photos, the interior features quite a bit of damage (water, I believe). All snaps, tabs, and buckles work correctly, however there is some corrosion, as you can see in the photos. All straps are fully adjustable, and the data label is still intact indicating, LKpS101, Fl. Size is marked as a 56. As it is in used condition there is a bit of wear and marks. The leather covers for the earphones are also still fully intact! Cord is still present, however it is cracked in quite a few places, as you can see in the photos. Sadly, the snaps on the throat mic are missing… But those could be easily replaced. Probably a good starter helmet for a novice collector. Ould make a FANTASTIC and VERY RARE addition to any collection or display!

Here is a truly Great Example of the classic Luftwaffe Summer Flight Helmet. The Helmet is complete and correct: having both chin straps and buckles, throat mics. Long cord and plug, earphones, cellophone covers and oxygen mask mounts. There is no date stamp on it, but the shiny plating on the lower oxygen mount hooks might suggest that this Helmet was made earlier in the war. It is also a nice Large Size 59, which opens the door for re-enactors. You wont be sorry. Sale does not include display head.
