Tonight we are listing another item from my Grandfathers estate and what we have here is AN OLD ORIGINAL WW II GERMAN ” AIR DEFENSE” HELMET W/ LINER & CHINSTRAP….. I know there are many fake and reconditioned helmets out there, but my grandfather was a paratrooper in france during the BATTLE OF THE BULGE, and spent the majority of his enlistment time in Germany, and he brought many artifacts home, including German flags, knives, medals, ribbons and all kinds of trinkets…… I’ve done a lot of research on this helmet, and from all my research it looks like this is what’s called a 3 PIECE AIR DEFENSE HELMET USED IN THE THIRD REICH PROABABLY BY A GUARD….. MOST OF THE INFANTRY USED A DIFFERENT STYLE OF HELMET THAT WAS USUALLY A GRAY OR GREEN COLOR….. BUT THIS IS A BIG HEAVY STEEL BLUE COLOR HELMET MAINLY USED BY GUARDS…… I’M NOT AN EXPERT ON THIS SUBJECT, BUT I THINK I’M PRETTY CLOSE TO BEING RIGHT, OR AT LEAST IN THE RIGHT BALLPARK…….. THE HELMET ITSELF IS IN GREAT SHAPE, WITH ONLY A FEW LIGHT SCRATCHES FROM STORAGE AND MOVING IT AROUND, AND I DO SEE ONE VERY SLIGHT IMPRESSION, WHERE IT MAY HAVE BEEN PILED UP WITH OTHERS AT ONE TIME, BUT NO REAL DENTS OR CREASES….. ALSO THE NUMBER RL2- 40/2 IS STAMPED INSIDE ON THE RIM…. ORIGINAL WW II GERMAN HELMETS ARE A TOUGH FIND, AND THIS CLEAN EXAMPLE IS SURE TO SELL QUICKLY…… DONT LET IT SLIP BY AND LATER KICK YOURSELF FOR MISSING OUT ON THIS BADBOY….. Acquired directly off a veterans family, so this is in an untouched state. Just by observing the helmet I assume this was a Heer issue. Makers initials and size: NS64. Original liner and chinstrap. There are black flecks of paint on this helmet, could have possibly had an additional cammo who knows? Liner circumference: approximately 54cm. See condition description for more information.
