Very nice and early battle-worn M35 DD winter camo helmet. The shell is a’Vereinigte Deutsche Nickelwerke (NS)’ NS62, Lot Nr. D13, feldgrau finish, wartime brush-painted with white paint that has faded to an off-white in unprotected areas. Some worn patches are now brown with patina. The Heer decal has been overpainted with camo, and the paint has later been scratched away to expose the decal, probably post-war. A lot of the details are obscured, but the Heer decal appears to be a C. Pocher, correct for NS helmets. The National tricolor decal is still largely covered by white camo paint, but patches of red, white and black decal are visible. The Reinforced aluminium M31 liner, band is marked. Leather liner pads are in very good condition, heavily sweat stained. Marked with the soldiers name W. Reviewed and given the thumbs-up all round by the world’s most knowledgeable collectors. This is an original German army WW2 helmet shell that was refurbished by the Czech government after the war for civil defense. Since there were many leftover German helmet shells after WW2 the Czech government took these helmet and repainted them black (the color for civil defense) and replaces the liner if needed. Many types of helmets were used for civil defense and German helmets were commonalty used for it. The role of civil defense was to assist the fire service and the military in case of acts of war. This particular shell is a M35 so it has the rolled edges as well as the grommet vents. The is is marked NS62 that indicates it is a size 62 shell that can take a size 54 or 55 helmet liner. The number on the inside back of the helmet skirt is the manufacturing batch number. The helmet used to have a fire service emblem on the from but the 3mm holes, that used to be there that held the emblem have been very well welded and sanded smooth with the shell. There are no dents nor holes in the shell so you will honestly like this shell. The helmet you see in the pictures is the actual one you will be sent. This is the last piece of my reenactment kit. The Shell is original M42 NS62 (Vereinigte Deutsche Nikelwerke). It was repainted and decal replace by the reenactment unit I was in. If you have any question please message me. The shell is original NS I cant tell if the helmet is a 62/64. Please note the liner and strap was mad by a member of the re-enactment unit. There are two small crack from blow. Photos are made so that the cracks can be clearly seen. Strong helmet, in a live looks better than the photo. Liner steel, in its original collection, the springs are original, they were not rearranged, they were not repaired. The skin is not much dry, but all the petals easily bend and do not crack. Skin was not treated and did not lubricate. All accessories are 100% original (except the lace).
