This is an extremely fine World War II Single Decal Camouflaged M38 Fallschirmjäger Helmet REPLICA that is in excellent condition. Although a replica, this helmet is a real eye catcher that is proper and correct in almost every respect. It is beautifully camouflaged in the tortoise pattern with weathered tan and brown brush applied paint. The shell is fitted with the early three-hole spanner bolts. There is a weathered denazified Luftwaffe decal on the left that has been painted around in a triangular shape. The tan colored leather liner is correctly marked, and the blue leather chinstrap harness are both faithful and accurate renditions of the original. All the harness hardware is functional. This is an exceptionally fine-looking example that suits the bill if you are not looking to spend 12K on an original. A VERY convincing helmet of the type used on Crete and in North Africa in 1942.

If you want one, here it is. 100% original Model 38 German Para steel shell, stamped ckl68 with a batch number of 4954 (made 1944), original paint in and out rates at 90%, named to Gefr. Replacement bumper pad, looks like the original type of rubber. Replacement liner, marked as size 57 but feels like a size 56. Replacement aluminium bolts, 2 x slotted/vented, 2 x slotted. Replacement leather chinstrap, it is a real good looker. I have not touched this helmet at all, it is as acquired, someone complimented this original shell with quality parts and it is correct for the era. You will not get better at this price. This particular example is of a tropical camo variety which was period altered whence the front changed. To be considered investment grade. While I have no way to prove this, this helmet is from a supposed horde found under an Italian stairway. This helmet along with several others and miscellaneous equipment was thought to be ditched by retreating FJ troops; these items are all in advanced private collections now and supposedly this is one of them found this way.
