WW2 GERMAN RARE ORIGINAL. REVERSIBLE CAMOUFLAGE HELMET COVER FOR ELITE UNITS. IT FEATURES heavy cotton construction with loops for additional camouflage on front, back and sides. Spring loaded aluminum clips for attaching to the rim of the helmet, reversible from Fall to Spring pattern. Normal usage and wear with a few small tears, mostly on the edge of the cover – I refer to my pictures. One spring is loose, could be attached to the clip. Fabric is still strong. Despite all mentioned I still rate it as in excellent condition. It is large size – will fit German helmet size 68 and smaller. 89 cm around the edge. For sale only cover, not helmet. This cover features heavy old cloth fabric construction with loops for additional camouflage on front, back, top and on both sides. Drawstring along side of cover, which we believe, may actually be the original drawstring. Reversible with tan solid color cloth on the inside and camouflage pattern outside. Very rare item to find and believed just as brought back after WWII by a veteran on his captured helmet (not included). Cover cloth is getting stiff with age. Normal usage and wear some stains with a few smaller tares. Cover material has two small tares that we see one tare on the side (about 1 1/4) in length another small tare towards the back (about 1/2) in length, we’ve included pictures of both small tares. We checked the cover material (on both sides), the thread, and the gathering-drawstring under our black UV light, NOTHING in the covers construction glows under a black light which is a good sign of WWII period cover components. We would rate this cover in at least very good condition or perhaps better for its age, cloth fabric is getting stiff though so you must be careful with it. Will fit German helmet size 64 and smaller. This is an amazing survivor and is well constructed and (form fitted) to a M40 WW2 German helmet and fits that particular make and size helmet exactly. Cover was on this model and size helmet when acquired from the local estate. Some of the brothers served in the Pacific and fought the Japanese and one brother was reported to have served with the Army and fought in Italy and Southern Europe. The cover really is form fitted to the size helmet from which it came, size 64 (medium size helmet) model M40 with rolled lower edge. If you have one of those and are thinking of displaying an original cover on it, then this cover may be worth your time and your consideration. If your wondering the cover would be too small for size 66 and for larger helmet. We think the pattern of camouflage on the outside of the cover is called tan and water. Cover appears to be unmarked no writing no maker markings found. Please note, helmet / hat stand shown in some of the pictures is for photography display of the cover only and Is Not Included in the listing. Cover appears to be entirely period original from WWII and we believe factory made cover as a reversible tan & water pattern camouflage helmet cover and we do not believe cover was just sewn from original material in the field or by someone some time after the war had ended, but study the pictures and decide for yourself. For sale original German combat helmet M42, sd, for elite units, complete with the liner. It is covered with the utility bread strap for additional camouflaged purpose to attach leaves and branches. It is marked on the back of the rim with maker/size hkp64? Not sure, hard to read and batch number (3428). The leather on the liner is not dried out, not damaged, just shows common signs of age, use and storage conditions. The shell has not any dents , some rust pittings on the surface, not deep, still strong, a lot of paint is left. Utility bread strap is not for sale and is used only for display. Size 62, Shows battle damages – bullet holes, but still nice display item, Inside on the side maker and size marked (hard to read – ET62) and on the back batch number marked (hard to read). Rusted, but still strong metal, not fragile. Maybe 35% of field gray paint is left. The image of the decal is still recognizable. Salty look , can nicely decorate your collection.
