German steel helmet, Model 1935 (M35), size 64, suitable for approximately a 57 cm head circumference. The shell retains solid, undisturbed metal with no signs of restoration. Traces of the original factory-applied paint are still visible across the surface, consistent with age and service use. Overall, the helmet presents as a structurally sound and honest example. Introduced in 1935, the M35 marked a significant refinement in German helmet design, evolving from earlier interwar patterns into what would become one of the most recognizable combat helmets of the Second World War. Its rolled edges, separate liner band, and carefully engineered ventilation system reflected both practical battlefield needs and industrial precision. Helmets of this pattern were issued widely across the German armed forces during the early and mid-war years, accompanying troops in campaigns from Western Europe to the Eastern Front. Unusual large-size German M42 helmet shell that has been heavily rebuilt : the original liner-rivet and vent areas are plugged/filled, and the exterior/inside are repainted in a green, textured finish. No maker/lot stamps are visible. Great as a quirky display piece or a restoration/reenactor prop. Model: M42 (raw edge profile). Size: 68 class (large). Work done: holes plugged/filled (liner rivets & vents), repaint; some small dings/nibbles on rim. Solid steel shell; no cracks or major structural damage noted. Obvious post-war alterations and repaint; not wartime finish. Scattered scuffs, edge wear, and spots to paint as shown. Liner, pins, and chinstrap not present. Historical Note (short) The M42 was the late-war evolution of the German Stahlhelm with a simplified raw rim. This example has seen substantial post-service modification-purpose unknown (could be workshop, theatrical, civil display, or personal project)-making it an interesting conversation piece.
