WW2 German M42 Raw Edge Army Helmet, Field Grey Including Zinc & Leather Liner. Helmet shell size 64cm with size 56cm Zinc liner, finished in leather (Complete). Manufactured by Sächsische e. Mailler und stanzwerke A. (SE), later re-designated hkp. Helmet numbers, hkp64 batch number 5555, Indicating a (ND) No Decal Field Grey Helmet. The rivets are the later steel type. Most of the Field Grey textured paint remains with a worn area slightly above the front left brow (darker patch). There is wear to the 3 rivet tops and stamped air vents. This item has an interesting worn patina, and a manufacturing quality typical of late war helmets. There is a slight ripple to the edge rim (right side-see picture). The chin strap may be a later addition complementing an excellent period helmet.
