German Helmet Stahlhelm Original M16 made by Quist. Original 1930’s repaint to black parade finish. This is a superb quality 1916 pattern WW1 German helmet made by Quist. The Quist factory is considered the foremost supplier of helmets in both wars. This one clearly has a history. Internally we see the standard original WW1 “field grey” paint which has survived in excellent condition. The helmet is a very large size 66 shell and will easily fit a 59cms or probably even 60cms wearer. Externally the helmet has been repainted in a period parade gloss black. There are a few minor scratches and areas of paintloss and these are shown. The black paint is clearly period applied, as hard as nails and probably enamelled as were many used by elite troops and police units. Why was it only repainted externally? Quite possibly as a cost saving measure or because the internal paint was already so intact it didnt warrant the effort. Helmets painted in this way are certainly rare but not unique. The helmet is in almost perfect condition with no dents or dings and the black gloss really shows off how good the Quist produced helmets were. The helmet and its entire paint are 100% genuine and period. The liner and 3 liner pins are top quality replicas added by a previous owner. A fantastic helmet to go straight on the display shelf or for anyone seeking to do a restoration job. The M38 gas mask canister is.

WW2 ORIGINAL GERMAN M35 EREL VULKANFIBER OFFICERS PARADE HELMET ULTRA RARE. DESCRIPTION: Offered to you is this extremely rare WW2 original German Wehrmacht M35 style Vulkanfiber high ranking officers parade helmet. These helmets were developed in the 1930s to be used as replacements of the heavy steel combat helmets during lengthy parades. Their design prevented neck strain and fatigue. It is painted in feldgrau color (95% intact) and bears a single German flag decal. This particular helmet is nearly unique as only few are known to exist worldwide. Later the increased demand for such helmets in Germany lead to it being factory painted and the appropriate decal applied to be used by a Wehrmacht general or high ranking officer. It bears complete markings on the inside DRGM (Deutsches Reich Registered Design) etc. There was a strike on the very top of the helmet and there are traces of that slight damage visible on the inside. The original leather liner is in good shape, the original chinstrap has some age cracks but is with 100% original dye. The metal edge is slightly detached at the front of the helmet (see photos). Overall an exceptional helmet of great rarity. Would proudly take its place in any private collection or museum. For sale here is a good looking WW2 German Civil Or Parade Helmet W/ Bullet Or Shrapnel Damage. All three projectiles, all of different sizes and seemingly coming at slightly different angles all exited the rear of the helmet in the same large hole. You can look through each entry hole at the entry angle, and see right out of the back of the helmet. The helmet is a light weight steel helmet with a field gray paint. There are no signs of an over paint. The shell shows appropriate age, use, and wear. The shell has a rolled rim, and the liner pins have not been removed. The damage peeled away a good amount of paint around it, and there is similar age darkening on the exposed steel to the other areas of paint loss. Again, i don’t know what hit this as the entry holes are mostly round, but they are definitely all caused by different sized projectiles from different angles that all exited at one point. Inside, the leather shows significant age, sweat staining, and some surface finish loss. A few of the fingers are missing and most of the lace holes are torn open. The long side of the chin strap is broken off, and the buckle side is all present but looks fragile. This leather is all pig skin and is weaker than standard combat helmets. The drawstring is present. The liner is torn/ripped away from the damage at the appropriate points. The back side of the damage hits show good age. One of the rear liner pads appears to have been named, but it is now illegible. Regardless, this is an interesting and conversation worthy helmet. You will be pleased. Most were colored black but this example is a true feldgrau color throughout the material and the outer shell painted with a flat feldgrau lacquer. This color must have been meant for Army use. Vulkan Fibre produced these helmets from 1935-36 and entered their helmet in the new helmet trials where the M35 steel helmet won out. Many surplus black ones went to fire departments during and after the war. I think this one is in very good to excellent condition, retaining most original paint. The liner and straps show a little wear but are still supple. The chin straps make me think motorized parade drivers.
