The helmet is complete with both the metal flying eagle and national colors at the sides. The flying eagle retains 90% of the original frosted finish with the national colors shield at about 98%. The rim of the helmet is faced with beautiful tan leather which remains virtually 100% intact. The light brown leather chin strap is also complete and undamaged. The interior of the helmet is lined with red cotton material that is only punched through by the prongs for the attached shields. The helmet retains the full leather sweatband which is beautifully marked with the impressed makers mark that reads, G. Helmfabrik, and dated 1942. It is also with a beautiful facsimile of a sun helmet with hanging chin strap. In addition, the size, 55 in ink stamped in blue ink. There is no damage to either the sweat band or the chin strap. The brown leather edging on the rim of the helmet is very nice and without damage. Attached to the helmet when found are a beautiful pair of LUFTWAFFE sun goggles that are in near mint condition. They are constructed of Luftwaffe gray leather, with darkened lenses and 4 salt & pepper vent holes at the sides. The elastic goggle headband is as pliable as the day it was made.
