German Army (Heer) Helmet WWII DAK Afrika Korps withGoggles M40 (Finnish 40/55)
The helmet includes double decals (Heer) and vintage military goggles similar to those used by the DAK during WWII. The overall condition of the helmet is very good. The liner is size 57 (7 1/8) and the leather is very soft and supple, feels and looks like new. The black leather chin strap is in excellent condition and also looks new showing no signs of wear. On the dome of the shell (right side), there are some very minor dents that add character to the helmet; however, this does not detract from the helmet’s charm. After all, this was an issued military helmet that likely saw field or even combat use. This helmet displays the early war Tri-Color National shield decal and the German Army (Heer) insignia in its complete historic format with the emblem intact (blanked out here for photo display). The decals are in good condition overall (please see all of the photos for the helmet’s overall condition). The vintage NATO goggles are also in very good condition with little apparent wear and decently clear lenses. This M40 helmet was contracted by the Finnish Army in 1955 and is also known as a M40/55 helmet. As noted by IMA (International Military Antiques)… These helmets were made in the same factory, on the same machines and by some of the very same people that produced them for Germany in WWII. The M40 has the classic rolled edge, correct steel thickness, pressed ventilation holes and an improved Finnish military liner and chinstrap. The helmet stand in the photos is not included. The last photo is for historic reference and illustrative purposes only and not the helmet for sale. J3Collectibles does not endorse or support the ideals of the Third Reich.
