Original M35 German helmet with most of the white winter camouflage intact. Helmet was recovered in a bunker near St. Petersburg was called Leningrad during the Soviet era. The original permits issued by the Russian government, required in order to dig for artifacts on the battlefields of Russia, are included. The permit includes a photograph of the helmet. I bought this helmet directly from the permit holder in Russia. The helmet is guaranteed authentic. Included with this German helmet is a Soviet red army helmet from the second world war, which was recovered in the Courland Pocket, Latvia. This area was the scene of intense fighting between the Russians and the Germans. German forces held out on the Courland peninsula until the end of the war, and the Soviets expended significant manpower trying to break the German defenses. It is an exact replica of the original, and is even manufactured by the company that made the original real thing. The ceramic ball on the end of the string which was used to light the fuse of the grenade, is actually an original which was dug up in the Stalingrad area. You can find these for sale elsewhere. So even though the grenade is a replica, that particular piece is original from Stalingrad. Finally I have included a funeral card of a German soldier who lost his life on the Russian front. These cards were passed out to friends and family at the memorial services of who soldiers lost their lives at the front. It gives the soldiers unit and the fact that he was buried with full military honors in Russia. A note on white camouflage paint used by German soldiers on the Russian front: they used to types of paint. One was a whitewash type paint which was easily removed with a little water and scrubbing. However they also used a paint which was enamel-based. That is the type of paint that is on this helmet.
