100% original WWII German Normandy Camo Helmet. This is an early Double Decal Q62 helmet (lot 3446) that was re-issued in 1940 and camo’d in a Normandy Tri-Color pattern. The helmet has a 1940 dated zinc liner and had been repainted as per re-issue specs. This is one of those helmets that had a long life as an early war helmet from the late 1930’s to a combat helmet in the 1940’s. It didn’t sit on a shelf the entire war, but was there throughout the conflict. The liner shows use like it should and the chinstrap is broken in the middle. There is also period paint on the back flange that is hard to read, but I can make out the name “Schmidt”. There are no signs of the two decals which would have been originally on the helmet…. They were removed and painted over during the re-issue process. There are no decals w/ offensive subject matter.
