This is a fine World War German Model 1935 steel combat helmet with original painted camouflage finish that remains in very good condition. The camouflage scheme is sprayed over a rough shell finish with light grass-green, dark green and light earth brown colors. This paint is absolutely original wartime applied and exhibits consistent wear around the rim and on the crown from actual field use. The interior brown leather liner is intact showing wear where it fits over the metal liner band. The chinstrap is present with the small buckle intact but with about only four inches remaining of the long strap. The left skirt is lightly maker and size marked, ET 64? The rear skirt is with the production number, 3971. The helmet remains a fine-looking example in very good field used condition.
