WWII WW2 German Luftwaffe Camouflaged M40 Helmet Q66 Tri Camo Original. The stamped, sheet steel construction helmet retains about 80% of its original green, tan and brown camouflaged over paint. This is indicative of a “Normandy Camo Scheme”. All three liner retaining rivets and both inserted ventilation bushings are all intact. Complete, original M31 leather liner but missing a few of the leather fingers. Liner is size marked 58. The reverse interior neck guard apron has a stamped serial number, “DN403″and has the stamped manufacturers code and size, “Q66″, indicating manufacture by F. Also, along the front rim as well as the lower right front of helmet (See Pics), there is damage from either shrapnel and/or glanced hit from a rifle round. Adds a little character and mystery as to the helmet and it’s owner. Overall this is a nice Real Deal 3 color camo helmet. The ONLY downside to this is the liner. I have seen other liners similar to this, with similar Dark Reddish-brown stains, indicative of blood staining. That also accelerates the rotting of a liner. In my humble opinion, I think this is what happened to this liner. Soldier bled, perhaps from getting knocked by those shrapnel hits? Pictures are part of the description. Thanks for looking U.
