Very scarce early German Pre WW2 “OTTO SINDEL BERLIN 1929″ maker marked and dated “carbine hook” with roller buckle chinstrap. Other end of strap leather slide thru on the liner bale. This chinstrap was fastened to the liner bale as in a WW1 German Stahlhelm 1918 model helmet by means of a metal snap hook. Known examples usually found date between 1931 and 1935, this one is dated earlier, 1929. These chinstraps are sometimes found on early M35 model helmets of 1935 and 1936 vintage. A very hard to find early German WWII era helmet strap. Essentially a transitional between the wars helmet chinstrap. In good condition the leather is flexible and appears to be stable. Strap shows much age and use and leather by the metal carbine hook looks to be intact there but leather is delicate next to the carbine hook. I see 15 adjustment positions on the long strap. Something further down the strap too have it pictured both sides. I did check all of the stitching with a UV black light none glowed. On the metal carbine clip end of the strap I see two different stitching colors therefore some of the stitching must have been helped changed there. Thank You for looking.
