Up for sale here is a very nice condition WW2 Luftwaffe. The shell is a size 62 and the liner is size 55. It appears this was never issued or saw service use. What about the helmet shell paint as seen in the pictures? As you can see, there is a bit of paint chipping around the base of the helmet. I suspect this has more to do with storage issues, perhaps other helmets being stacked on it, etc. That same type of chipping isn’t seen around the top of the helmet, which would be evident if it saw field use. There is a lot of surviving paint there that is pristine, has all it’s rough texture coating and has not faded. It also has a single Luftwaffe eagle decal in nice shape with a bit of chipping here and there. Message me if you wish to see the unedited decal. On the interior as in the liner and chinstrap, these are almost mint. There is a bit of slight peeling on the leather liner outer edge but that’s it. The leather itself is very soft, probably the softest I’ve come across even with unissued helmets. The chinstrap is likewise very pliable but has formed itself over the years around the visor edge. There is still gray paint on the buckle and button grommets. Overall a great helmet and a nice example to add to any collection!
