Late war M42 helmet from the arctic frontline. Lot nr 1712 produced at Vereinigte Deutsche nickelwerke/Schwerte in size 66. During the war, the helmet served in German service in Eastern Finnmark in Norway, on the russian front. After the war, it was used by the Varanger battalion for a short period. This helmet was found hidden and forgotten in a warehouse in Tana along with several other helmets. This helmet comes without any kind of reproduction parts. It has not been restored, but a layer of sand-color paint from the mid 40s reissue has been removed, so the helmet is modified. On the inside of the helmet you can see that it has been repaired in two small places with weld, after damage caused from the outside, possibly during the war. The helmet seems tough and brutal and is definitely a great collector’s item at a reasonable price. Nice helmet with gentle color shades. Sent from Norway to recipient all over the world.
