(PLEASE CONTINUE TO SCROLL DOWN TO SEE ALL DETAILED PHOTOS). This is a wonderful example of a late war German paratrooper helmet in an extra large size CKL 71 and factory painted in late war dark gray blue (blau-grau) with texture and matching smooth enamel paint on the inside. Seasoned collectors quickly snatched all of these first production run shells up as the front slope, shape of the shell and over all weight are all spot on. The inside liner has the correct stitching and inked on maker’s marks and so no attention to detail has been ignored. I have even seen military auctions getting thousands of dollars for these exact same shells and liner systems once a professional has aged and restored them to various Normandy camo patterns. All four vented aluminum slotted washers are present and the chinstrap buttons are marked with the historically correct maker’s mark PRYM 4. As a professional restorer myself I matched the textured outside paint with an original para M38 Ckl 68 I have out of my personal collection and so I know that the paint is spot on. Once the ET factory stampings changed over to “Ckl” and then “CKL” it was already well into 1943 and so no Luftwaffe decals were being added and so this is exactly how it would have left the factory. ATF para shells are nearly impossible to find these days as not many were ever produced in the first place. Here’s your chance as I’m find myself in the middle of thinning out my collection.
