Named Ww2 German Helmet KIA W History Wwii Army. The soldier was Gefr. Dörrhöfer, the previous owner researched the German archives and found some info, I think enough to get someone in the right direction. He was born in Frankfurt in Dec. 12, 1913, and died in a field hospital on November 2nd 1944. The hospital was H. 1/91, this is more info than I have usually seen with other pieces. Liner shows signs of what could be considered blood damage. As to the black, it is old and may have been applied in the field, not sure why someone would repaint a Helmet with a blood damaged liner like this but who knows.
