This is an original WW2 German M40 steel helmet, also known as a Stahlhelm. The helmet features a Q66 mark indicating that its size is 66 and was manufactured by Quist. The helmet shell has been repainted but some of its original paint, along with some heavy pitting in the dome, is still present underneath. Quist M40 helmets are desired by collectors due to their high quality as well as post 1942 production when other manufacturers switched to m42 production. The helmet is an original piece and not a reproduction, making it a valuable addition to any collection or reenactor looking for an excellent project shell.
