During the Continuation War from 1941 – 1945 the Finnish government imported M42 helmets from Germany for their war against the Russians. Germany and Finland were allies against Russia during this conflict. Some Finnish units painted a white skull on their helmets for intimidation and to signify “white death” – death by freezing in Finland’s snowy forests. Helmet is in great condition minus the liner and chinstrap. Note: this is a WW2 German M42 helmet, not a M38 Hungarian helmet. They look similar and the Finns utilized both.
