This listing is for an authentic WWII German M40 helmet. It is stamped on the interior rim with. “EF” meaning Emaillierwerke Fulda and that it was manufactured in Fulda, Germany. Like all World War II German helmets, the two letters were accompanied by a two digit numeric denoting the shell size in centimeters. “64” is the shell size in centimeters. It is also stamped with the production run number or lot number 0968. The decal is no longer discernible but the outline of its remnants are still visible on the left side of the helmet below the stamped air vent. It is obvious that it was not Luftwaffe. It was either Heer or Kriegsmarine by the shape and size. There is no trace of a decal to the right side of the helmet and thereby my conclusion is that it did not have one. Most of the original paint is gone, although I’d estimate approximately 5% remains to determine its original color. It appears to have been dark pea green. I was going to place a reproduction liner in it as well so that I could place it on a mannequin head for display purposes for my personal collection but never completed that plan. I have kept it stored indoors the entire period I have owned it. It is still in the same condition which I obtained it. Please study the pictures carefully for a complete view. As pictured, I have attempted to bring every detail to your attention so that the authenticity is completely apparent. No international buyers please.
