This is either an Imperial German WW1 Pith Helmet Complete with Front Helmet Badge from the Grand Duchy of Baden dating from before to early Great War or an Africa Corps Pith Helmet that was allowed to be decorated to the soldiers desire. The badges make this all the more confusing. 1 the Front Badge is a pre-early Great War example from a Pikelhaube from the Grand Duchy of Baden. 2 one side Badge translates to Artillery over Hansen-West which is located in lower Bavaria. 3 the other side Badge translates to Youth Club from Langenwolmsdore which is located in Saxony. So we have badges from 2 of the Kingdoms (out of 4) from Imperial Germany as well as one of the Grand Duchies. Imperial Germany was a federation of twenty-seven kingdoms, duchies, principalities and free and imperial cities. If anyone out there can shed some additional light on this pith Helmet it would be greatly appreciated. Ive received feedback from another eBayer that this is a First Model Africa Corps Pith Helmet decked out with badges & not Imperial German. Check out my other Great War listings.
