Offered today is original WW2 German combat steel helmet M40 with nice leather liner & chin strap. The name of the owner is ink pen written on the liner. Some writing is also painted on the rim of the helmet – I can not identify it. This helmet retains about 87% of its original dark field-grey paint. It is marked on the rim with batch number 4097? Hard to read and maker/size EF64 (Emaillerwerke AG, Fluda). The shell shows some minor rust pittings (not deep, only on the surface), scretches, consistent with age, combat use and storage conditions for more than 75 years. Strong stable shell, no dents. The leather on the liner and chin strap is not dried out and does not have any damages, only minor soiling. The drawstring is still attached. Overall very nice helmet.
