Welcome to the Red Brick Depot! Here for sale is. Original WWII German M42 steel helmet (Stahlhelm), size 66, battlefield relic condition. This helmet was recovered in the Sorva area of Saaremaa Island, Estonia – a site of intense fighting during the Soviet Moonsund Archipelago offensive in autumn 1944. The shell retains traces of its original paint and shows heavy combat and environmental wear, including corrosion, edge loss, and deformation. Relic condition, with visible corrosion and metal loss. Some remnants of liner are present. Traces of original paint remain. ? Origin & History: The M42 helmet was introduced in 1942 as a simplified version of the M35/M40 models, eliminating the rolled edge to speed wartime production. It became the standard German combat helmet during the latter half of WWII. This example was found in Sorva, on Saaremaa Island – the site of the Battle of Tehumardi (October 8, 1944) and other brutal engagements during the Moonsund Archipelago operation. In this campaign, Soviet forces landed on the Estonian islands and fought German units of the 23rd Infantry Division and others in fierce close-quarters combat, eventually forcing the evacuation of the remaining German troops. Securely packaged for safe transit. ? Red Brick Depot – Specializing in original WW1 and WW2 militaria from Eastern Europe – battlefield relics, attic finds, and authentic historical items.
