This is an extremely fine World War II Model 35 German Afrika Korps steel helmet with tan camouflage finish, liner and chinstrap that is in excellent field used condition. The exterior of the shell is with a heavy brushed on tropical tan painted finish that was characteristic of those helmets used by Rommels Afrika Korps in North Africa. It remains approximately 85% intact with spots of wear down to the original painted finish. The insignia on the left side has been painted over. The interior remains with the original army gray/green painted finish. The left skirt is marked Q 64 indicating a size 64 helmet shell manufactured by the Quist firm of Esslingen. The lot number 3932 is stamped into the rear skirt. The leather liner is dark but pliable and undamaged. The liner rivets are factory tight and have never been out of the helmet. The chinstrap is full length with an unmarked tip. It remains pliable but appears to have been over the front lip since the war. This is a great-looking example that displays beautifully.
