This Late War WW2 German M34 Fire Police Polizei Civil Stahlhelm Helmet is in excellent condition and looks as if it may never have been issued. The original black finish shows only minor signs of age and wear most likely from storage. This is the harder to find Late War variant of the M34 that has the rounded flares and folded edges that more closely resemble the M35, M40 and M42 combat helmets. The helmet is unmarked, which is typical for examples made during this time. It measures about 9.5 in width at the widest point between flares. It looks as if no decals were ever attached and there are no immediate signs of a liner ever being installed, however I can see the faintest signs of wear around the liner rivet holes. This is a very curious example of yet another Late War variation on the classic Stahlhelm and would be perfect on display exactly as it is, or could be “finished off” with the right parts and pieces – you decide!
