A fascinating group of German Luftwaffe equipment from the Second World War, combining an aircraft instrument with flight equipment and personal military equipment. The central and most distinctive item of the group is the Fl. 22855 electric trim-position indicator (elektrischer Stellungsanzeiger für Trimmung). Associated with German aircraft including the Messerschmitt Me 262 and Focke-Wulf Fw 190, as well as other Luftwaffe aircraft. The instrument was used to provide the pilot with a remote indication of the aircraft’s trim position, an important part of maintaining the correct attitude and balance of the aircraft in flight. The instrument retains its period luminous markings. The internal pointers visibly fluoresce under UV light, as shown in the photographs. The group also includes a brown leather German Luftwaffe flying helmet (Fliegerkopfhaube) of lightweight, non-radio construction, without integrated headphones or radio wiring. Its configuration is consistent with the simpler summer-type flying helmets used by Luftwaffe aircrew. Completing the group is an aluminium Luftwaffe EM/NCO belt buckle (Koppelschloss) featuring the characteristic Luftwaffe eagle and wreath design. Together, the three pieces create a compact and visually attractive Luftwaffe aviation display, representing three different aspects of German wartime aviation: the aircraft, the airman and his equipment. A particularly interesting group for collectors of German WWII aviation, Luftwaffe equipment and the Messerschmitt Me 262. Condition: vintage condition consistent with age and use.
